4972 Chris Finnigan newcastle upon tyne, England a tragedy that should never have happened
4971 David Phillips London, United Kindom Presumably the purchase of Union Carbide was a profitable move for Dow Chemicals but with that inheritance comes the moral responsibility to assist the people of Bhopal and to clear up the mess which has destroyed their lives. Stop sheltering behind corporate law and take real action now.
4970 Shambhu Nath Shakopee, USA Government of India should compensate victims and then try to get it from DOW. Dow should clean up the mess left there, so we stop further damage. Lets forget about punishing DOW and Dow should compensate the victims and clean up the mess. IN US, when you buy a company, sorry, you also buy their liabilities. Dow knows it.

4963 Rachel Baron Boston, US In The United States, depraved indifference to human life is a criminal offense that falls under the indictment of Murder 2, a charge that is punishable by a minimum of 25 years in prison. If those responsible were to be sentenced under this law, for the wrongful and neglectful killing of each victim , their prison stay would be over 550,000 years. Knowing this, it is appalling and shameful that Dow Chemical cannot even repair some of the extensive damage done to the area in exchange for literally getting away with murder.

The way in which Union Carbide refused even to reveal the composition of the gas when people were dying, is disgusing in its criminality. We live in a world where smokers in US get billion dollar compensation while these victims did not get anything. Moreover the Indian Government is as much to blame for its handling of the case. 4574 Anoop Hiremath Bangalore, India It is sad that companies come to India to reap benefits without caring for the people who provide them the benefits. You can open thousands of companies and benefits can always be achieved, but will the lives of the people can be brought back. It is a same on the human mankind that till today nothing has happened (in terms of betterment of the Bhopal tragedy surrounding and environment).

4568 Michelle Vestby Alliston ON, Canada I grew up in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta right next to Dow Chemical Canada. It is shameful to think of Bhopal and how the poor Indian people have been used and abused and forgotten. It is also scary to think that I grew up in a town next to your plants where it is known that cancer rates are higher and directly linked to your chemicals. I know of people who have worked in your plants and died of cancer, most likely job-related.
4567 Pierrette Audet Montreal, Canada the world came to a halt when the twin towers in the united states of america fell........countries were put to war......thousands were killed to avoid another such disaster......what about bhopal?........what happened?......what enterprise would have the almighty power of getting away with it?.......what makes them feel so self assured?.........their are so many questions with so little answers and most of them not even being an answer but just a response to a question......it may be 20 years later,it may be too late for some but it's never to

4124 Beth Cervantes Chandler, Arizona The contamination in Bhopal is a global issue, with wind currents moving the poison throughout the world devastating everything in it's path. It is a violation and rape of all life. We all breathe the same air eventually. Dow accepted responsibility of UCC inherently. If Dow can not afford to deal with this, how can the world afford to live with Dow?

4120 Peggy Abby Seattle, USA Thank you for your consideration of this petition. While it wasn't Dow chemicals disaster, its Dow's opportunity to set a new standard and demonstrate some kind of response of an appologetic nature and willingness to work for improvement on behalf of all industries world wide. I don't believe Dow should make personal reparations. That's been done already whether adequate or not. However leading the way for memorializing and standard setting is expected by the company buying the history as well as the advantages of doing further business in conn

It can still assume moral leadership in industry by recognizing an ongoing responsibility to the victims in Bhopal.
